Not To Be Ignored

White Vinyl Space: When it comes to galleries of contemporary art, New York has White Columns, London has White Cube and Miami now has White Vinyl. "I just thought that 'vinyl' was so representative of Miami,'' says founder Skip Van Cel, "that I thought it was the perfect name.'' (If you have to ask why, then you need to spend way more time here -- said with knowing affection, of course.) On offer at the gallery is Five New Reasons to Live, an eclectic and mesmerizing collection of video and audio work by Kevin Arrow, Nicole Martinez, Damian Rojo, Barron Scherer and Van Cel, who provides artists the space to experiment. "For creativity,'' he says, "you can't be afraid of failure.''
